Arthur was the 2nd child born to Fred and Irene Daigh. Arthur grew up in the Pennsboro, MO area, which is in the south-central portion of Dade County. He attended schools in Pennsboro and Greenfield, and graduated from Greenfield High School in May of 1962. After graduation, he moved to Independence, MO, southeast of Kansas City. Arthur worked as a truck driver for 35 years.
Upon retirement, he moved to Prescott, Arizona, where he passed away on December 9, 2010 after a short illness. He was buried in Pennsboro Cemetery, near his parents.
As a student in high school, Arthur was quiet, unassuming, and never got into any trouble. He was liked by his classmates, and had some classes with me. (Alan Miller) I remember one incident in English class, which always brings a smile to my face whenever I think of it. One warm spring afternoon, Arthur had driven the family car to school. Upon leaving school, Arthur backed out of the parking space on the street, put the gearshift into Drive, and pressed a bit too hard on the gas peddle. The result was a short squealing of tires.
Our English teacher, Mrs. Freeze, happened to be looking out the window and heard the squealing of tires. The next day as Arthur came into English class, she said to him, "Well, hello there, speed demon!" Arthur ducked his head, a bit red-faced, and quickly found a seat.
Arthur was a good person, and was a 2nd cousin, once removed to me, as his grandmother, and my great-grandfather, were brother and sister.
