Birdina [aka Birdena] Anderson Bingham, daughter of Bill and Helen Anderson; wife of Saskatchewan native, Milo Leonard Bingham, whom she married 24 Dec 1946; mother of two known sons, Leonard Milton and Wayne Bingham.

Birdina Bingham, 87, of Atikokan, Ontario passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2007 in her home with family by her side.
Birdina was born in Kincaid, Saskatchewan, to Bill and Helen Anderson on August 12, 1920. She was the eldest of nine children and was raised in Mankota, Saskatchewan. After her mother's death at an early age, Birdina quickly became the matriarch of the family. This continued throughout her life which made Birdina the favourite among all her family. Birdina married Milo Bingham on December 24, 1946. They moved to Upsula, Ontario where they started their family before moving to Atikokan in 1961.
Birdina enjoyed family gatherings and bowling. She was a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Branch 145, where she cooked the special banquets and Kiwanis meals; the Women's Institute, the United Church Women's Auxiliary; and the Atikokan Bowling Association where she served as President for many years. She also coached Youth Bowling in previous years. Birdina sold Avon in the community for 46 years and was a long time member of the Avon President's Club. She was honoured as Citizen of the Year in 1998 for her volunteer contributions to the community. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, sewing and Bunka art as well as gardening.
Birdina is survived by her son Wayne [Janice], Atikokan; daughter-in-law, Donna Bingham, Thunder Bay; grandchildren, Mark [Nicole] Bingham, Atikokan; Bobbi Jo [Leo] Arrigo, Fort Frances; Jaret [Angela] Bingham, Atikokan; Ian Bingham, Calgary; great grandchildren, Marni and Joel; Dustyn, Alexander and Kaylen. Birdena is also survived by her sister, Norma Sieb, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, brother-in-law, Gary Haakinson, Swift Current, Saskatchewan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Birdina was predeceased by her husband, Milo, October 31, 2006 and son, Leonard, Dec. 13, 2003, sister-in-law, Dorothy Haakinson, August 11, 2007, her sister, Dorothy Kryway, July 31, 2007. She was also predeceased by her sisters Irene Lucas, Amie Beattie, brothers Lawrence Kirk, Cecil Anderson and Joe Anderson; brothers-in-law, Bud Lucas and Bill Beattie and John Kryway.
Active Pallbearers are Danny and Marlene Gagne, Al and Bernice Wensley, Ron Cenerini and Lorraine Calder. Honorary Pallbearers are the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 145. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at the United Church in Atikokan at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Thunder Bay. If so desired, donations may be made to the Riverview United Church or the Atikokan General Hospital.
