Survivors include his wife, Doris Medders Adkinson of Anniston and Jason Adkinson of Ohatchee, two brothers William E. Adkinson of Panama City, FL and Lanny Adkinson of White, GA; a sister, Alyce Barnwell of Cassville, Ga and one granddaughter Sara Kate Adkinson, and several nieces and nephews.

He was retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company after 33 years service. He was a member of Saks Civitan Club, Indain Oaks Country Club, JSU Gamecock Club,Gideon's International and First Baptist Church of Saks where he taught Sunday School.
