Funeral of Miss Binie Baird
Cumberland, Md., Nov. 24 - The remains of the late Miss Binie Baird, who died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Jacob, wife of the late Gov. Jacob, of West Virginia, at Wheeling, W. Va., on Saturday last, were brought to Cumberland last midnight on train No. 46, which was delayed six hours by the wreck at West Virginia Junction. Gen. Absalom Baird, United States Army, Washington, and Capt. William Baird, United States Army, Leavenworth, Kans., brothers of Miss Baird, and Judge Thayer Melvin, of Wheeling, a friend of the family, were in the funeral party. The funeral took place this morning at 10 o'clock from the Queen City Hotel, and interment was made in Rose Hill Cemetery, Cumberland, beside Miss Baird's mother, who died in 1881. Rev. Dr. James Moffatt, of the Presbyterian Church, conducted services at the grave. Miss Baird formerly lived here.
