Red and White Cocker Spaniel. She was born with a heart defect. My mother came to my Grama's house with her in 1989 and brought me out to the backyard to meet her. She was given away by the owners. They could not sell her because of her defect. We took her home, and there she stayed until her heart began to truly fail. She was a good dog, but could be ornery, and would bite from time to time. She was blind in one eye due to a cataract by 1997. We never had it fixed, because due to her heart defect, we were afraid she would die for no good reason. We never had her spayed for the same reason. We cared for her as best we could. She was a strong old puppy, but fragile. She liked to visit Grama, and Grama occasionally came to see her. They were very good friends by the time she had to be put to sleep. I did miss her a great deal, you understand, but at that point I wasn't too fond of dogs. Grama loved dogs, in general, all of her life.
