William Herman Pfander was a baker. He owned and operated Pfander's Bakery in Essex, Connecticut. He took over ownership from his father, Wilhelm Gottlob Pfander, upon the retirement of his father. He was the father of two children. Neither child continued the baking trade and the bakery closed it doors for the final time in 1965.
