Son of James E. Blatherwick (of Nottinghamshire, England), and Cynthia Matilda Carswell Blatherwick. One of 12 children. Private Blatherwick fought in the Civil War and was a P.O.W. He was a member of the 8th Illinois Cavalry Company A. He was the last member of the 8th Illinois to pass away. Family links: Parents: James E.
