This is my dad.
Dad moved to Lincoln Nebraska as a kid, receiving his education there and graduating from Lincoln High.
He married his high school sweetheart, my mother Linda McMichael, on September 23, 1961.
Dad joined the United States Navy after high school. His company at boot camp was made up of sailors all from Nebraska. He served on the USS Petrel, his ship being part of the blockade during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Dad became a father with my birth, in 1965, followed by my sister in 1967.
The family moved to North Platte Nebraska then finally to Sutherland Nebraska where my sister and I graduated high school.
Dad worked on electronic and mechanical equipment for a living. He could fix anything. He passed a lot of this down to me. I am an electrician, mechanic, and all around fix-it guy. Often when I am asked, "How do you know how to do that?" the answer is most often one word: "Dad." He spent a lot of time in his garage fixing things and working with his vast tool collection.
Dad died too young after suffering from melanoma.
He left behind his children and three grandchildren.
An interesting side note; Dad is buried approximately 100 yards from infamous spree killer Charles Starkweather.
