This is my maternal Grandfather. We called him Grand-daddy.
He was such an interesting man. We was born into a large family and lived with foster parents as a small child because of family illnesses. He moved in with his brother, my mother's favorite Uncle Herb, in High School when his foster parents could no longer care for him.
He was in the US Army, fighting in both World War II and Korea. He was an ace poker player, loved sports, hunting, fishing, and his family. He always had a smile on his face and a spring in his step. The crowd at his funeral was one of the largest ever seen at the church in which it was held.
My favorite story about my grandfather is of the mausoleum which is his final resting place. My grandmother was very clausterphobic. It was the worst in the basement. She hated to do the laundry because it caused her to go downstairs. My grandfather was behind the building of the mausoleum where they are so my grandmother didn't have to spend eternity underground. Is that cool or what?
He was the father of Linda Carol and James Lloyd. He had four granddaughters and a grandson. He now has six great-grandchildren.
