Masonic funeral services for H. Lou Almack, 83, of Madison, will be 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby.
Mr. Almack died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, in Cleveland.
He was born Dec. 9, 1925, in Coshocton, the son of E.A. and Minnie Snack Almack, and was their seventh son.
He attended West Lafayette Central High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December 1942, and served 31 months as a radio and radar operator on the USS Talamanca in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged at Great Lakes Naval Base on Jan. 19, 1946.
He was a past master (1984-85) of Willoughby Lodge 322, Free and Accepted Masons, and was also a member of Willoughby Chapter 231 Royal Arch Masons, a 32nd degree Mason in the Valley of Cleveland Scottish Rite, and a former member of Al Koran Shrine. He had also belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2926 in Cleveland.
Mr. Almack was a self-employed contractor during most of his working years. From 1965 to 1985, he was employed by Chelm Management Co. in Cleveland as a maintenance superintendent.
Survivors are his beautiful and loving wife, Carolyn Fultz Almack; three great stepchildren, Robert Fultz of Mentor, Beverly Feher of Texas and Edward Fultz of Painesville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Mitchell and Patricia Almack; and brother, Harry.
His parents; brothers, Glenn, George, James, Ralph and Russell; and sister, Gertrude, are deceased. Mr. Almack's first wife, Edna, died in 1989.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until service time. Military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Navy. Private burial will take place at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.
