Patricia Lynn (Hanna) Chapin was born August 5, 1940, at Plum Creek in Jerome Township in Gove County, KS. She was the third child of William 'Hap' and Edna Christine (Johnson) Hanna. She passed away on Friday, June 10, 2005, at the Gove County Medical Center in Quinter at the age of 64.
Pat attended Gove Grade School and graduated from Gove Rural High School in May of 1958.
On August 30, 1958, she married Kermit 'PeeWee' Chapin at Lawton, OK. Following PeeWee's miiary deployment, Pat moved back to Gove, and they raised their three children in the Gove community.
Pat was known by many in the area as the district manager of the Gove County Conservation District. She worked in that capacity for over thirty years. Pat was instrumental in the development of many fields of CRP and terraces in Gove County. Everyone who knew her, knew that she took great pride in her grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Kirk Chapin and wife, Deb, of Hays, Kent Chapin and wife, Paula, of Gove; a daughter, Kim Tichenor and husband, Curtis of Branson,CO; seven grandchildren, Ashley Paine and husband, Kenny, of Trinidad, CO, Cody and MaKayla Tichenor of Branson, CO, Tyler and Tanner Chapin of Hays, Eidree and Tyrell Chapin of Gove; two sisters, Joyce Beougher and husband, Bill, of Gove, Beverly Chapman and husband, Ed, of Las Cruces, NM; and many close nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband, PeeWee; her parents, and a brother, Mike Hanna.
Pat would make each day special with a blessing from the heart. Her untimely death will unite family and friends today to remember only the good times.
