Roscoe S. Coberly was born March 15, 1905, at Eagleville, MO, to M.S. and Eliza (Meranda) Coberly. He passed away September 17, 2000, in the Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas, at the age of 95 years, 6 months, 2 days.

Roscoe was a lifetime area resient. He attended Gove county rural schools, and Kansas State University at Manhattan.

On July 16, 1939, he was united in marriage with Annabelle Reinhold at St. Francis, Kansas. She passed away September 22, 1968. On June 4, 1969, he was married to Grace (Beesley) Dunlap at Oakley, Kansas. She survives, of the home.

He was a farmer and stockman, and pioneered one of the first irrigation systems in the area. Roscoe established a feedlot in 1946 and was always on the leading edge of agricultural progress. He was a firm believer in higher education and helped numerous students obtain college degrees. His family and his civic duties were especially imnportant to him.

Roscoe was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Hays. He was a Chapter Member of "Alpa Gamma Rho Fraternity at Kansas State University, a lifetime member of the Kansas Livestock Association, and on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Quinter, Roscoe also served on the Missouri Flats School Board, the Gove County Hosptial Board, and was a prominent member and leader of the Missouri Flats community.

Other survivros include a son, Mark S. Coberly and wife, Cheryl, of Gove; two daughters, Judy Ziegenbalg of Heber Springs, AR, and Cathy Coberly of Amarillo, TX; 4 grandchildren, John Ziegenbalg and wife, Tina, of Searcy, AR, Brett Ziegenbalg of Heber Springs, AR, and Adrian and Travis Coberly, both of Gove; a great grandchild Kyle Ziegenbalg, of Searcy, Ar; a sister, Edith Webb of Comanche, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Harry Coberly; and a sister, Gladys Bentley.

Roscoe will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends for many years to come.
