Beloved mother of Tomas Rosales (B.1959) and Vivian Rosales (B.1962). One of 3 siblings born to Josefina Perdomo, she lived in Havana, Cuba until she and her husband, Enrique Rosales, felt Cuba was no longer a place to raise their kids. After his first attempt to leave by a boat, got him capture and sent to el Malecon prison, Enrique made it to Miami, Fl. Genoveva then got the necessary papers to leave Cuba via Mexico. Stayed in Mexico City for a few weeks while her husband sent money to the family. She and her children made it thru the Rio Grande border and then made it to Houston, Tex. The family arrived in Miami on a National Airlines Boeing 727 on April 20th, 1969. After divorcing her husband, Enrique Rosales in 1975, she worked hard to raise her son and daughter alone. She was blessed with the arrival of her grand-daughter, Katie Jolie, daughter of Vivian Rosales and enjoyed her during the last couple of years of her life. She died peacefully in the hospital after having a heart attack while recovering from abdominal bleeding. She never felt any pain and was visited by the parents and the now grown young men and women that she once baby sat when they were young. I was with her those last 3 1/2 hours as her heart slowed till she passed on at 7:45 pm in the icu of South Miami/Baptist Hospital. She had her viewing at the Caballero/Woodlawn Funeral home on Bird Road on Friday, and her interrement was on the following Sat. morning. She lives on in our hearts, and in our memories. God Bless you, Mom.
