Mary Jane Gregg Agnew

Mary Jane was the daughter of Mary Jane and Andrew Gregg, of Lisnashanker, County Down, Ireland. She immigrated to Anderson County, Kansas Territory in 1859, aboard the ship City of Manchester. On 20 Feb 1860, she married William M Agnew, also from County Down, Ireland.

Mary and her husband were pioneer settlers of Woodson County, Kansas, relocating there in 1873, where they resided on a farm along the middle branch of Owl Creek. Their children were: William Frazer Agnew 1862-1904; Walter James Agnew 1866-__; Andrew Joseph Agnew 1868-1878; "Lizzie" Elizabeth Jane Agnew 1871-1961 (who became the first Dean of Women, Fort Hays Kansas State College); and Rosa May (Agnew) Hogueland 1875-1904.
