His father owned and operated a grocery store and his siblings were Manuella (Nellie) (Serrano), Maria, Jose Rosales, Theodora (Lola), Margarita (Maggie), Natividad (Tivi), Eugenio and Refugia (Cuca), half brother Antonio (Tony) Barron. He married Maria Guadalupe (Marie) Serrano at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in San Bernardino, CA June 27, 1943 and had three sons: Robert James, Ronald Carl and Arthur Paul.
