LANCASTER - Ernest Adams, 89, of Lexington Street, a former teacher and hospital board member, died Saturday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.
He was retired after teaching 34 years. He taught for 10 years in the Upward Bound program at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond.
He also was a member and Sunday school superintendent for 19 years at Lancaster United Methodist Church, and also belonged to the Gararrd County Memorial Hospital board of trustees and Soil Conservation Board of Supervisors.
Born Oct. 31, 1909, in Magoffin County, and was the son of the late Andrew and Mary Hampton Adams. He belonged to Masonic Lodge 104, F&AM, and was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors are his wife, Beulah Mae Murphy Adams of Lancaster; one daughter, Betty Jane Montgomery of Lancaster; one sister, Edith Adams of Lancaster; and two grandchildren.
Services will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lancaster United Methodist Church by the Rev. Don Hatton. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.
