Anson Marcellus Aikman, aged 59, of Bluffton died May 24th. He was a member of the Bluffton Methodist Church, a retired Army Captain, a member of the Masonic Lodge of Bluffton, a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriller, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Fourche LaFave Grange of Gravelly. Mr. Aikman served on the Fourche Valley School Board for 15 years, was president of the board and a past president of the Fourche Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jessie Aikman; two sons, Anson Robert of Ft. Chaffee and Thomas Rex who is enroute from Okinawa after finishing a tour of duty there; stepmother, Mrs. Cora Aikman of Bluffton; three brothers, Bill, Jim T. and Herman, all of Bluffton; two sisters, Mrs. Allie Kendrick of Cerrogordo, Okla., and Mrs. Thelma Jones of San Diego, Calif.; a step-sister, Mrs. Lucy Jane Woods of Bluffton; and one grandson.

Funeral was held at the Bluffton Methodist Church, May 27 by Rev. Charles Nance and Rev Charles Chastain. T. J. Daniel was in charge of Masonic arrangements, and Cecil Guinn conducted graveside Masonic rites. Burial was in the Bluffton Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service.
