Oliver Aldridge, 59, 0f 304 Borgess Ave., who served in the Navy during World War I, died of cancer at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday in Veterans Hospital at Ann Arbor. He had been ill for about 14 months and in the hospital a week. Friends may call at the Allore Funeral Home after 7 tonight. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Raymond A. Heine of Christ Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors. The son of Samuel and Laura Hammond Aldridge, he was born Sept 22, 1899, at Deweyville, Ohio. He lived at Monroe for 43 years and was employed by the Monroe Steel Castings Co. until illness forced his retirement in 1958. His Navy service was from Aug. 7, 1918, to Sept 30, 1921. He was on the U.S.S. Illinois as a fireman 3rd class. He was a member of Carl F. Payson Post 60, American Legion; Monroe Post 1138 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Modern Woodmen of America. He married Rose Sievert Aug 2, 1919 at Monroe. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Robert and Kenneth of Monroe; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth J. Culp of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three brothers, Earl of Toledo, Clarence of Monroe and David of Pontiac; two sisters, Mrs. Delsie Bisbee of Findlay, Ohio and Mrs. Harold Weaver of Bay City, and eight grandchildren.
