Larry Bedford, 62, of Ione, WA, formerly of Altoona, passed away on June 3, at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
Larry was a graduate of East High School. He then served in the Army, retiring from the Reserves in 1994. Larry was also a Des Moines Police Officer, retiring in 2002, after 30 years of service.
He is survived by his sons, Patrick (Tina) Bedford of Altoona, Lyle Bedford of Des Moines and Nick of Altoona, his two granddaughters Hanna and Kaitlyn Bedford of Altoona, and his former wives and mothers of his sons, Lois Smith and Lynn Bedford.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, June 25, at the Des Moines Police Recreational Building, 5374 Old East University, Pleasant Hill from 3 to 7 p.m.

Lawrence G. Bedford, 62, passed away on June 3 at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines, IA. He was a resident of Ione, WA.
Larry grew up on the eastside of Des Moines, graduated from East High School and attended DMACC. Larry was a Des Moines Police Officer for 30 years and retired in 2002. He also retired from the Army Reserves.
He leaves behind his wife Esther Harvey Bedford, who was his sole mate for 32 years. He also leaves behind his father Clyde Bedford who resides in Ione, WA and his mother Eva Bedford who resides in Des Moines, IA. He also leaves behind a long time friend Curt Messerly who was his partner on the Des Moines Police Department for many years and considered a part of our family and a brother Larry never had. He also leaves behind numerous cousins that live in Florida, Iowa, New Mexico, and Washington.
He was loved and will be missed by them all. His was laid to rest in Ione, WA on July 13, 2008.
