According to his death certificate, he was the son of Santiago Acevedo born in California and Julia Lopez born in Arizona. His siblings include Benjamin Jr., Alfred, Juan, Margarite, Adella, Arturo, Elydia, and Berhenia according to the 1930 U.S. Census for Precinct 2, Santa Cruz Co. He was a miner for lead and silver at the Flux Mine in Santa Cruz Co. near Harshaw. He was 30 at the time of his death. He died of internal injuries and multiple contusions over his entire body owing to a accidental dynamite explosion. He had served in the armed forces during WWII.
