Funeral services for Richard C. "Pete" Benton, age 75, will be held at 2PM, Thursday, December 18, 2003 at the Fiske Union Assembly of God Church near Oak Grove, Louisiana. Rev. Jimmy Herring, Rev. James Hayes and Rev. Kevin D. Veazey will officiate. Burial will be in the Beulah Cemetery north of Fiske Union under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.

Mr. Benton died Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at the Cornerstone Hospital in West Monroe, Louisiana.

Mr. Benton was a native and lifelonge resident of Forest where he was a member of the Forest Baptist Church. For the past 15 years he attended the Fiske Union Assembly of God Church. A veteran of the WWII era, he served in the Navy aboard the USS Shangri La. He was employed as a motorman with Rowan Drilling Company in Houston, Texas. For 10 years he worked aboard the Gilbert Row in the North Sea off of the coast of Great Britian. He was a business owner for 15 years.

He is preceded in death by his late wife of 33 years, Beverly Jean Edmonson Benton; his parents, Leslie Richard Benton and Mary Benton.

He is survived by his wife, Bobby Jene Benton of Forest; son and daughter-in-law, Barry C. and Gery Benton of West Monroe; son and daughter-in-law, Leslie "Buddy" and Sheryl Benton of West Monroe; daughter, Janis Benton McGowen of West Monroe; daughter, Linda Jean Benton of West Monroe; Step son and his wife, Michael and Beverly Tyson of Monore, Louisiana; Step daughter and her husband, Debbie and Jerry Davis of West Monroe, Louisiana; brother, Donad "Buck" Benton of Downsville, Louisiana, 8 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.

Pallbearers are: Stan Bernard, Danny Crowe, Steve Davis, Mike Tyson, Howard Ainsworth and Chuck Calvert.
