Lillie Rogers Ray Milburn was born at a time when You had to rely on hard work to make it - and that she did - She was married young to John Ray and they had two Daughters and five sons - her last son was born two years after me, her first Granddaughter - Grandmother would become a widow shortly after finding out that her Son Nathaniel had been killed in Europe while he was serving in the US Army - He was the second son she had lost - she lost an 8 year old years early - Grandmother would buy another son before she died - She would also bury a Great Grandson and a Grandson (my Son and My Brother) - She worked so hard all of her life - She had each one of her Children at home - never going into the Hospital until 1978 when she was diagnosed with Diabetes - after having gangrene infect her toe - she would lose a leg and have two strokes before she died -- She was my Heroine - She was the epitome of what an American Woman should and could be - with no education but plenty of determination - she could sew, crochet, play the guitar and the piano - all things she taught herself - she grew a garden that would make Martha Stewart envious - Grandmother Lillie was a very Special Woman....
