Mrs. Abernathy Rites Today in Berryville

Jacksonville - Graveside services for Mrs. Dorothy E. "Dottie" Abernathy, 70, Jacksonville, are scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday in Garden Oaks Cemetery, Berryville, with the Rev. Tom Layfield officiating, under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mrs. Abernathy died Thursday in a Jacksonville hospital after a sudden illness.

She was born May 11, 1919 in Anderson, Ind. and lived in Jacksonville 20 years. She was a former resident of Tampa, Fla.

Mrs. Abernathy was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Disabled American Veterans and the New Life Baptist Church in Florida.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Abernathy of Jacksonville; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Ronald Ardry or Ironton; two brothers, Fred Hoke of Florida and Lorn Hoke of Indianapolis, Ind.; and three sisters, Vivian Highsaw of Anderson, Ind., Rhoda Rigney of Tampa, Fla., and Wilma Atkins of Frankston; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dewayne Joplin, Michael Adkins, David Adkins, Richard Adkins, Warner Rindfleisch, Ronald Ardry and Robert Milton.
