He was born January 18, 1913 in Willmathsville, Missouri the son of Roy C. and Florence Lee Barker.
On November 23, 1932 in Kirksville, Missouri he was united in marriage to Margie Marie Hunt.
He is survived by his wife Margie of Brashear; one daughter, Judy Gudehus and her husband David of Edina, Missouri; two brothers, Rex Barker of Bloomfield, Iowa and Dale Barker and his wife Joy of Fenton, Michigan; three sisters, Norma Julian of Scurry, TX, Ruth Storts of Bowling Green, Missouri and Ava Swofford and her husband Ross of Columbia, Missouri; five grandchildren, Shelly Gudehus, Christy White, Jared, Neil and Mendy Gudehus and several nieces and nephews.
Fred was raised in Willmathsville where he received his education in the Garden Grove grade school and graduated from the Bible Grove high school.
Fred was a mechanic and owned and operated Barkers Garage in Brashear since 1945.
He was a charter member of the Brashear Lions Club and a member of Paulville Lodge #319 A.F. & A.M.
Fred served for twenty-five years as Director of the Mark Twain Telephone Company and served several years on the Brashear School Board.
Fred enjoyed his family and working in his garage.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 11, 1995 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Park View Chapel in Kirksville. The Rev. Virgil Clow will officiate. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
Casket bearers will be Harry Fisher, Charles Baker, Roger Selby, Alvin Henderson, Leo Hunolt and Kenneth Crandall. Honorary bearers will be Virgil Delaney, Bob Strickler, Bill Barnes, James Helton, Sid Osborn, Phillip Sorenson and Larry McKim.
