Meyer Andrew Anderson of Beaver Crossing, died on Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at the Friend Manor at the age of 86 years, 11 months, and 13 days. He was born March 13, 1916 to John and Ella (Meyer) Anderson. He graduated from Beaver Crossing High School in 1933. As a young man he was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps at Denton, Nebraska. Meyer Anderson and Norma Koch married January 1, 1940, and lived on a farm southeast of Beaver Crossing for most of their married life. The couple became parents to four children: Richard, Kathryn, Blaine, and John.
Meyer was a farmer his whole life. He also utilized his mechanical skills by working part-time in the winter overhauling tractors in Friend and Seward. Meyer enjoyed hunting and made several fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada. He enjoyed boating with his family where his children learned to water ski, as did a few neighbors. Meyer also had a passion for automobiles, music, playing cards, shooting pool, and visiting with family and friends. Meyer and Norma were life-long members of the Beaver Crossing United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.
Meyer is survived by son and daughter-in-law Richard and Agnes Anderson of Danville, Indiana, and their children, Michael, Elizabeth, Stephen, and Jonathan; daughter and son-in-law Kathryn and Ervin Dvorak of Kansas City, Missouri, and their children Brenda Cunningham and husband Lee, Lynn, and Matthew and his wife Cerena; son and daughter-in-law Blaine and Jody Anderson of Beaver Crossing and their children, Ashley and fiance Andy Washburn, Cole, Hayley, and Lindsey; son and daughter-in-law John and Cindy Anderson of Cuba City, Wisconsin, and their children Mary, Julie, and Paul; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan, and Kallen Cunningham; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mildred and Walter Wehmeyer of Minnespolis, Minnesota; niece Marcia Wehmeyer; nephews Bob Anderson and Carlisle Anderson; cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Norma; his parents, John and Ella Anderson; an infant brother Ray; sister and brother-in-law, Viola and Donnie Anderson; parents-in-law, Oscar and Bessie Koch; grandson, David Anderson; and niece Marlene Beneke.
