Barbara L. Beachler, 79, Mexico, passed away at 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2006, at her residence.

She was born on August 10, 1926, in Peru to William Paul and Edna Marie Prather Wolfe. On March 23, 1946, in Peru she married John Webster Beachler and he survives.

Barbara was a faithful member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Logansport, and served her church in many ways. She was a deaconess, Sunday school teacher and an active member of the Women's Group. As part of that group she helped in the workshop making crafts to sell at the church Christmas Bazaar and helped in the thrift shop - donating her time and talents to help the church serve the community and the needy. She enjoyed the "Lunch Bunch," a group of church members that gathered for fellowship and friendship. In addition to her volunteer work for her church, she helped at the Salvation Army in Peru.

Survivors besides her husband include: three sons, John W. Beachler, II, and wife Nancy, Logansport; Stephen "Steve" P. Beachler and wife Marsha, Indianapolis; and Marshall D. Beachler and wife Cindy, Portage, Mich.; two daughters, Debanney "Debbie" D. Hay and husband Dennis, Lafayette; and Kristine "Kris" K. Hite and husband Ron, Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren and eight grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers, William "Bill" P. Wolfe, Peru; Court Wolfe, Nyona Lake; Reggie Wolfe, Mexico; and Ronnie Wolfe, Peru; two sisters, Patricia "Pat" Plaue, Ashville, N.C.; and Sharon Staller, Fort Wayne.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Presbyterian Church, Logansport, with the Reverend Doug Mankell officiating. Friends are invited to call one hour prior to the service at the church. A private family inurement will be held in the John Knox Room of Calvary Presbyterian Church following services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to Miami-Wabash Home Hospice or to Calvary Presbyterian Church.

McClain Funeral Home, Denver, is handling the arrangements.
