Rev. Roland Paul Fields, 80, of 2788 Morrison Road Laurinburg died as a result of an automobile accident in Robeson County. He was the son of the late J.P. and Myrtle May Fields. He served with the US Army in World War II and following the war he became a pastor and helped start many churchs in the area. He is survived by three sons, Lenwood Fields of Fayetteville; Ronnie Fields and Wayne Fields of Laurinburg; two daughters, Barbara Stone of Lumberton and Judy Coats of Clayton; a bother, Roy Lee Fields of Hope Mills; two sisters, Helen McLen and Iia Mae Turlington of Hope Mills. Funeral services were held at 2p.m. Friday at the East Laurinburg Church of God offciated by the Revs. Jeff McGirt, Bill Sheeks and Harry Clark. Services by McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium, Laurinurg, NC.
