Joseph Davey
Every raod has an end, every day its sunset, every story its climax and every life its change from the earthly to Eternal. Joe Davey came to the parting of the way with those who had been his friends and companions for these
more than 40 years. His spirit departed to run on ahead for a littlt while to the place prepared Monday morning December 29, 1930 at 9:45, his spirit was
transformed from the material to the Spiritual Abode. He had been in the earthly house for 81 years, 5 months and 2 days.
Mr. Davey was born at Marion, Ohio, July 27, 1849. His mother died when he was but 18 months old. His father married again and with the wife and child moved
to Michigan where most of his children live today.
In 1882, Mr. Davey came to Davenport, Nebraska where he made his home until 1887 when he was united in marriage to Julia A. Walker and with this young bride came to Kansas and Beattie Community.
Four children were born to this union: James W. who died in the service in 1918; George W. of Oketo; Burr W. of Beattie and Etta A. Giles of Westmoreland, KS.
These children with the faithful wife and companion survive. Also two sisters and two brothers: George, Frank, and Mrs. Etta Byers of Bridgeville, MI and Mrs. Ella Joseph of New York. Eleven grandchildren also survive.
He was a member of the M.W.A. of Beattie and the Christian Church of Beattie.
The race of life is ended. Another of the old settlers has heard the call, "Well Done."
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Beattie on Wednesday afternoon, Dec 31st.
The sermon was by Reverend Eckert. Interment was made in Beattie Union Cemetery.
