Cheri Lynn Taylor, age 53 of 111 E. Green St., Mifflinburg, passed away Monday, October 24 at her home, after having courageously fought an eight-year battle with cancer. She was born March 11, 1952 in Brown City (Sanilac County), Michign to the late Sanford W. Getz, Jr. and the late Dorothy I. (Robinson) Brock.

Cheri married James R. Taylor, orginally of Melvin, Michigan, on August 5, 1972 on the campus of Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Jim and Cheri made their home in Mt. Pleasant for one year prior to moving to Clarks Summit, PA where he attended seminary.

Cheri graduated from Brown City High School in 1970 and attended Michigan State University in E. Lansing for two years. She also attended Empire Beauty School in Sunbury, PA and graduated from there in 1988.

Cheri was employed by University Hair Design in Lewisburg from 1988-1990 and as a teller at the Mifflinburg Bank and Trust Co. (Lewisburg Branch) from 1990 to 1997. In 1997 she purchased Silver Shears Hair Design in Mifflinburg which she owned and operated until its closing in April, 2004.

She was a member of the Associaton of Pennsylvania Cosmetologists; the Mifflinburg chapter of Relay for Life; the Reformed Baptist Church of Lewisburg, and a past member of Calvary Baptist Church in Mifflinburg where she faithfully served as pastor's wife for eleven years.

Cheri is survived by her husband, Jim, of 33 years, two daughters and a son: Nichole M. (Jason) Boris of State College, PA; Carrie J. (Matthew) Ryan of Havertown, PA; and Lt. Aaron B. (Laura) Taylor of Boston, MA. She is survived by four grandchildren: Olivia and Sophie Boris of State College; Isaac and Taylor Ryan of Havertown.

Cheri is also survived by a brother, Rodney (Jane) Getz of Penrose, NC and a sister, Sandra (Charles) Hamilton of Long Lake, MI and her mother-in-law, Donna Taylor of Melvin, MI.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sanford Getz, Jr. in 1958; her mother, Dorothy Brock in 2003; her step-father, Lee Brock in 1982; a brother, Larry Getz in 1995, and her father-in-law, Robert Taylor in 2005.

A service in Cheri's memory was held on October 28 at 6:30 PM at the Lewisburg Alliance Church in Lewisburg, PA, officiated by the Rev. Rodney J. Conner. A commital service for the immediate family was conducted on October 29, at the Mazeppa Union Cemetery in Mazeppa and was officiated by the Rev. Justin Krewatch. The following family friends served as pallbears: Matthew Bowersox, Lucas Criswell, Ken Erb, Barry Kinley, Jack Stockdale, and Jeff Wagner.
