Birth: 1833
Death: 1907

With Joe Juneau, was the co-founder of Juneau, Alaska (originally named Harrisburg). The pair, guided by Chief Kowee, made Alaska's first major gold discovery around 1880. The local mining district is named for him as is Harris Street. Harris owned a house on Telephone Hill and lived the rest of his life in Juneau. His descendents continued to make their home in Juneau for many years. (bio by: Stew Thornley)
