Ephraim Catron lived on Old Stage Road, a farmer. He hauled ore from Iron dale, driving 4 or 6 horses. "The wagon was of the old high wheel road type with axel-skeins and tar was used for lubrication." [He hauled for Noble, Allen & Co.] When the company went out of business they owed Ephraim $400, but he did not sue them for it, although others tried. They did not win in court, but Ephraim was called to the site and given gold for his past due bill! [Page 82] Ephraim served Co H 63rd VA Infantry and was wounded at Zion's Church in 1864.
