d/o John & Sarah (Thomas) Toller (Tollar).

Revolutionary War Service, Orange Co. NC, 1778: Private for 9 months in Capt.William Lytle's Co; Colonel Archiblad Lytle's NC Regt.; 3 months as guard at Hillsboro under Sgt. William Riley and 2 months in Capt. John Whiteside's Co.this was about the time of the battle of Guilford Court House, his brother , Joseph was Lieutenant in this company at this time.

Cornwallis and his men camped out on John's father's farm about 8 miles from Hillsborough and took provisions, horse & buggy, furniture, etc, for which he was never reimbursed. This is interesting history and is recorded in John Allison's pension record.
