Andrew was born to John Brown and Rachel Peden. His Mother was from a devout Quaker family, Alexander Peden b. 1762 and Abigail Walton b. abt. 1771, last residing at Pike Run Twp, in WA Co. PA.

Andrew and Sarah E Brown are shown in Osage twp, Miami County, Kansas State census in 1867. Sarah was his first wife and they had 1 daughter. When Andrew and Sarah parted he moved in with his brother Alexander & family including his father John Brown, on Alexander's farm near Fontana, KS. May 17th, 1872 he married for the 2nd time to Angeline Ballard in Cass County, Mo. Andrew and Angeline then left for Rooks County, KS and he filed for a homestead in Medicine Twp. A son was born to them. Family legend says Angeline and the little boy died in a house fire, but some say she left on foot with the child.

Andrew Brown and Carrie Belle Crain (age 15) were married Jan. 4, 1880 near Igo, KS,at the home of her mother Elizabeth (Dial) Crain Geddis, in Greenfield Twp, Rooks County. Andrew and Carrie had five living sons, Charles W., Chalmer C., Alfred F., Calvin and Albert E Brown. Andrew was a farmer, raising cattle, feed and grain and a commercial fruit orchard that kept him busy sorting and selling apples all winter.
