Solomon's parents are unknown and also the location of his birth.
Solomon Dial married Mary McClish. In 1826 tax records he is shown living in the town of Columbian, Columbiana Co., OH. They sold their real estate in Lisbon, Columbia Co., OH and they moved to Colebrook, Ashtabula Co., OH., as he is shown buying land on Nov. 11, 1836 in the County deed book, pg. 123. Apr. 1, 1839. Solomon was a farmer but is also shown in Colebrook town records on page 100 as being a "fence viewer".
Solomon went by horse back, to evidently visit relatives in MI. and tried to cross the Maumee River when it was high, he and his horse were both swept away and drowned on Apr. 28, 1846. Family legend tells that a passenger on a train saw this accident happen. Solomon was buried at Perrysburg, Wood Co., OH., near this location and later reburied in Greenlawn Cemetery in Trumbull Co. Ohio. A letter was sent by a traveler, to his wife, to meet her at Warren,Trumbull Co., OH., as she had Solomon's wallet
