Byron Curtis Graham was born to Charles Henry Graham and Mary Ann Fuller Smith in Medina Co. Ohio. He grew up with his half-sister Mary Jane Smith, born from his mothers first marriage to a Mr. Smith. Byron's father Charles died when he was young.
Byron grew up in Spencer, Ohio and married Martha Kelly on Jan. 20th, 1877, in Medina Co. Byron, his little family, his mother and sister Mary Jane moved to KS. in 1880. He worked for the railroad for three years at Axtell. He purchased a farm at Axtel, then moved to Mina, and finally onto a 320 acre farm in St. Bridget Twp.
Thirteen children were born to Byron and Martha, Brita M., Charles, Bert, Etta, Ezra, Nellie, Francis, Minnie, Delpha, Ray, Ruth Faye, Marie and Donald Graham.
I was told that Byron gave each of his son's a wagon and a team of horses to start them out. As was the culture at that time he did not do the same for his daughter's.
