Elmer Leo was born to Harvey Lewis Bahr and Annie M. Edwards [see memorials]. He was the grandson of Frederick John Bahr and Margaret Kessler [see memorials].

Elmer was a military US Navy COX veteran in WWI. His service no. is 1100995. He served aboard the USS Jarvis, USS Seattle and the USS El Doheny. Elmer also served at the Mexican border. How he did so in the Navy is unknown. He was honorably discharged Feb. 24, 1919.

Elmer's first marriage is to an unknown woman. They had a child. His second marriage was to Gertrude Sutton (part Seneca Indian, b: Jan. 26, 1896). They also had a child and
they lived in Baldwin Harbor, NY.

Though Elmer was originally buried in Buffalo, his body was moved to Maryland. Gertrude remains buried in Buffalo.
