FINE CITIZEN GONE

Pioneer of this City Passed Away Sunday Last at His Home
William Eugene Bedwin, a resident of Charlevoix for the last forty years, passed away at the family residence on
Lewis Street, last Sunday afternoon, his death following an illness of long standing that finally developed into
heart trouble and the direct cause of death.

Mr. Bedwin was born at Oberlin, Ohio, October 13th, 1859, where, with his parents, he resided until they came to
Michigan and located at Ironton in the year 1867 on what is now known as "Breezy Point Farm."

Mr. Bedwin was united in marriage to Miss. Mary Whitman in 1880 and in the same year became a resident of
Charlevoix. Two children resulted from this union, Luke C. Bedwin, of Glouchester, Mass., and Bert B. Bedwin,
of Detroit.

In 1898 Mr. Bedwin was united in marriage to Miss. Rose Smith of Traverse City, who with her two sons, Earl T.
and Ray of this city, the two sons formerly mentioned and a brother, Fred Bedwin, also of Charlevoix are survivors
of the deceased.

During the long period of years of his residence in this city, Mr. Bedwin won and held the full respect and high
esteem of the public by faithful and honorable performance of his general business affairs and the high ideals
exemplified in his every day life.

Funeral service was held from the First Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon, in charge of the local Odd
Fellows of which Mr. Bedwin was an honored member of long standing. Pastor Candler Officiating.

All places of business in this city were closed during the funeral services as a testimonial of respect and esteem
held by our citizen for their late associate. Interment at Brookside.
