REV. DAVID DAZELL BLACKLEDGE went to be with the Lord, Monday, October 6, 2003 in Denison, Texas. He was born March 19, 1920 in Stringer, MS to Griffin and Marzellia (Welch) Blackledge. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received the American Campaign, Good Conduct and WWII Victory Medals, as well as the Purple Heart. On May 7, 1954, Rev. David married the love of his life, Mozelle (Featherston) Cotten, and lovingly took the responsibility of raising 3 sons and a daughter. He was a welder by trade, but a minister by calling. He was an ordained minister with The Independent Pentcostal Church of God, and pastor of Cross Assembly; which later became Evangelistic Revival Center. Rev. David was a powerful and loving man of God; a musician, songwriter and recording artist. He loved people and always celebrated life with love and laughter. He was father, counselor and friend to anyone in need. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mozelle Blackledge; two infant children; 1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild. Survivors include his 10 children, Margaret Elmore (Chandler, TX), John T. Cotten (Mesquite, TX), Raymond Cotten (Balch Springs, TX), James Cotten (W. Monroe, LA), DAnne Brevetti (Ewing, NJ), Donna Walker (Mesquite, TX), Marzellia (Jeri) Veal (Denison, TX), Wanda Hayes (Wolfe City, TX), Billy Joe Blackledge (San Angelo, TX) and Carrie Elliott; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and 3 sisters, Ardelle Keith (El Paso, TX), Estelle Baxter (Baton Rouge, LA) and Vera Roundtree (Louise, MS).
