Beulah was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Nov. 10, 1910, the daughter of Fred and Sophrinie (Tellstone) Sumner.
Beulah was a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Company in Plattsburgh for more than 25 years. Upon her retirement, Beulah developed a keen interest in art and painted many beautiful landscapes. Beulah loved working on her creations, and many of her paintings are displayed in her children and grandchildren's homes.
Beulah is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Bates Vaughn of New Port Richey, Fla., and Donna Bates Corodimas of Tucson, Ariz.; as well as several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
A son, Robert Sumner Bates, preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 2001.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh.
Services will follow in the Robert W. Walker Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in West Plattsburgh Union Cemetery
