Georgia Barker Childrey, 94, of Woodland Drive, Reidsville, died Thursday, October 31, 2002, at Annie Penn Hospital.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 4, 2002, at First United Methodist Church. Entombment followed in the mausoleum at Reidlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Childrey was born June 9, 1908 to Robert P. and Nellie Lemons Barker. She was a native of Rockingham County and a graduate of Stoneville High School. In 1928, she was married to John Will Childrey, also of Rockingham County.

To this union, two daughters were born, Frances Hoke of Badin Lake and Sarah Filewood of Reidsville. Other survivors include seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jody Lynn Benson.

Mrs. Childrey was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had taught Sunday school for 40 years, chaired several organizations in her church, and was a member of the Friendly Garden Club and the Westwood Home Demonstration Club.

Wilkerson Funeral Home of Reidsville assisted the Childrey family.
