Gordon R. Zoerb, age 90, of Manitowoc, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Azura Memory Care in Manitowoc.

Gordon was born December 10, 1923 in Sheboygan, son of the late Clarence and Florence (Rahel) Zoerb. He graduated with the class of 1942 from Kohler High School and attended the University of Wisconsin Extension from 1942-1943. Gordon was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1943 serving in combat on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. He later served in the occupation of Japan. Gordon graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1948 with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. On September 4, 1948, Gordon married the former Angeline Schmidt at Reedsville. She preceded him in death on January 10, 1983. On August 21, 1999 Gordon was married to Eleanor Woldt Skatrud at Manitowoc. Gordon first lived in Sheboygan until 1953, then moving to Clinton, IA. The family then moved to Appleton in 1960 and in 1964 moved to Manitowoc. Gordon worked as a field auditor for the State of Wisconsin Department of Revenue retiring in 1988.

Gordon was a member of Lakeshore Methodist Church (St. Paul United Methodist Church) and was a former Sunday School teacher and member of the church's choir. He was a member of the Friersaengerbund German Singing Group, the Concordia Singers in Sheboygan and the Men's Gardening Club of Manitowoc.

He is survived by his wife: Eleanor Zoerb, Manitowoc; his three children: Christine Anding, Delavan; Douglas (Pat) Zoerb, Galva, IL; Timothy (Pat) Zoerb, Eden Prairie, MN; 7 grandchildren: Roy (Chris) Anding; Gwen (Mark) Anding; Wade Anding; Becky (Noah) Hurley; Andrew (Ginger) Zoerb; Kelly Zoerb; Jodi Zoerb; one step-grandchild: Ann Marie Reh; 7 great grandchildren: Audrey Anding; Steffany Anding; Halley Anding; Zane Anding; Florencia Anding; Jacob Zoerb; Elizabeth Zoerb; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Arline Hacker, Apache Junction, AZ; Phyllis (Zane) Pautz, Milton; Gladys (Calvin) Huber, Mequon, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence and Florence Zoerb; his first wife: Angeline Zoerb and one sister and brother-in-law: Lois (Robert) Rodenberg.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Lakeshore United Methodist Church, 411 Reed Ave., Manitowoc. Rev. Thomas J. Dunham will officiate with burial at the Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory of Manitowoc is assisting the Zoerb family with funeral arrangements.
