Alvina Novy Becomes Bride Of Mr. Polifka
At a pretty wedding at the Holy Innocents Catholic church at 8 o'clock this
morning, Miss Alvina Novy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Novy, 909 North
16th street, became the bride of Elmer Polifka, 1847 Michigan avenue. The
nuptial mass was celebrated by the Rev. E. A. Radey.
Adding to the beauty of the ceremony, Miss Dolores Marr, soprano, sang "Ave Maria,:
Rosewig, and "Because," d'Hartelot. Her accompanist was Mrs. E.J. Pauly.
The bride was attractive in a gown of white mousse line de sole, floor length,
fashioned with dainty puffed sleeves. She wore a white organdy turban and a nose
veil and carried an arm bouquet of pale pink roses and sweet peas. Her bridesmaid,
Miss Marie Wedegartner, was attired in blue mousse line de sole, fashioned with
similar lines, and had a small hat to match. She carried cream roses and pink
sweet peas.
Anton Novy, Jr., brother of the bride, was the best man. He and Mr. Polifka are
fraternity brothers.
Dinner was served to family members and a few out of town guests at the Novy
home at noon. Guests included Miss Betty Lange, Waukesha, Ralph Wills, Portage,
Fred Krause, Reedsburg, and Orville Jacobson, DePere. The young men are members
of Gamma Phi Delta, Mr. Polifka's fraternity.
Mr. and Mrs. Polifka will make their home at 2411 Meadow lane. The former was
graduated from Lincoln high school in 1928 and from Carroll college, Waukesha,
this season. His bride was graduated from Lincoln high school in 1929 and has
been employed at Hamilton's Flower shop. She was the guest of honor at a series
of parties within the last few weeks.
