Joseph G. Yanda, age 79, of 911 S. 18th St., Manitowoc, died on Saturday,
Aug. 18, 2007, at Holy Family Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc.
Joseph was born on April 24, 1928, in the town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County,
son of the late Joseph J. and Mary (Naidl) Yanda. On Jan. 10, 1953, Joseph
married the former Evelyn Polifka at St. Anne Catholic Church in Francis Creek.
The couple moved to Manitowoc after their marriage, and celebrated their golden
wedding anniversary in 2003. He was employed with Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry
for 40 years, where he prepared the union lunch at the foundry for many years.
He retired in 1993. Joseph was an avid dartball player and enjoyed playing with
various teams. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi, Manitowoc, and was also
a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 706, Manitowoc.

Joseph was preceded in death by one daughter: Susan, in 1967; his father-in-law
and mother-in-law: Frank and Anita Polifka; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Anna
and Elmer Troullier; and Marcella and Victor Shavlik; four brothers-in-law: Ray
Nesper; Charles (MaryAnn) Freidenberger; Francis Polifka; and Raymond (Lois)
Polifka; a sister-in-law: Vera Polifka; Many nieces and nephews also preceded
Joseph in death.
Funeral services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall St. at 11 a.m.
on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be
the Rev. John Schuetze, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc,
on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, from 4 until 7 p.m., where a prayer service will
conclude the visitation at 7 p.m. led by Deacon Paul Kieffer.
The visitation will continue on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at St. Francis of Assisi
on Marshall St., from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the
family with funeral arrangements.
