"the correct location is Newtown, Queens County. Newtown at the time covered north central Queens. From the East river todays Long Island City to Flushing Queens."

Margaret/Margrietje Meyers/Meijering was the daughter of Jan Meyers and his wife Teuntje Straitsman.

She and her half-brother Laurens Haff were born in the Dutch Colony of Fort Margaret on the Cabedelo peninsula in Brazil.

She was baptized on April 20, 1639, at the Dutch Reformed Church in Recife, Brazil.

Margaret may have been of German ancestry.
Her stepfather, Gabriel Carbosie, was German.

Margaret first married (1) Herman Jansen van Lenneps.
She and her first husband Herman had a son, Jan Hermansen (baptized Apr 17, 1658 in New Amsterdam). Jan is listed next to his stepfather, Hendrick Martinson, in a 1678 list of Newtown inhabitants.

Margaret was a widow when she married (2) Hendrick Wiltsie June 26, 1690 at Flatbush, Long Island, New York.

They had the following children.

5. Meyndert
6. Theunis
7. Jacob
8. Marten
