Death here Friday of Washington Street resident 86-year old Carl Wilke,
following a stroke which he suffered 4 years ago and which ultimately
caused his death. Mr. Wilke came from Germany to Manitowoc County in
1853 and has been a resident of our county ever since. He leaves 3 sons
and a daughter. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon.

Carl Wilke, a pioneer resident of this city, died at his home at 1501 Washington
street last Friday, aged eighty-six years. Mr. Wilke, who was a native of Germany,
emigrated to this country and settled in this city in 1853 and has resided here
continuously since. Deceased is survived by three sons, Charles and Albert of this
city, and Herman, Milwaukee, and one daughter, Mrs. Alvina Jens residing in this
city.
The funeral was held from the late residence of Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock.
