Mary Jane Wier, age 82, of 1424 N. 7th Street, Manitowoc, died Monday evening, August 8, 2011 at Aurora Medical Center of Manitowoc County.
She was born on October 1, 1928 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Frank and Lillian (Svacina) Baroun. On October 14, 1950 she married Norman A. Wier at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2009. Mary Jane was employed at Roncalli High School with the kitchen staff from September 1974 until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Mary Jane enjoyed cooking and was known for her Christmas meatballs and she also enjoyed antiquing and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include a grandson and his wife: Tristan & Lori Wier, Beloit; a great granddaughter: Aubrey, Beloit; a brother and sister-in-law: Howard & Rachel Baroun, Lakewood; a daughter-in-law: Lauri (Graycarek) Wier, Sturgeon Bay; a brother-in-law: Richard Wier and his wife, Doris, Two Rivers; and a sister-in-law: Dianne Maedke and her husband, Robert, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by two sons: David & James and a grandson, Tyler. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Robert Drobka. Cremation will follow the service at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and Mary Jane will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, at a later date.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 9:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 until 10:45 a.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
