Gerald A. Wier, age 74, of 1311 S. 32nd St., Manitowoc, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. Gerald was born Dec. 31, 1929, in Manitowoc, son of the late August L. and Edna M. Pavlat Wier. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving for three years overseas. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. He was discharged in April 1955. Jerry was a member in good standing of TREA (the retired enlisted association.) In 1952 he married the former Toshiko Masutahi and she preceded him in death on March 20, 1978. On Dec. 20, 1985, he married the former Jeanne Bieniek at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Montpelier, Wis. Gerald was employed at Mirro Company for many years until his retirement. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Wier, Manitowoc; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Judy Wier, Menominee, Wisconsin; a daughter and son-in-law, Hurshey and Hirmi Fujii, Japan; a sister, Lonie Braunel, Manitowoc; a granddaughter, a great granddaughter; seven step children, seventeen step grandchildren and a step great grandson. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, George and Robert and a grandson, Christopher. The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Memorial Service will be Deacon Robert Drobka. Cremation will have taken place with burial of the cremated remains at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, at a later date.
