CHARLEY WIEBOLDT

CHAS. WIEBOLDT IS SUDDENLY STRICKEN, DIES OF HEART FAILURE
SOUTH SIDE MAN, FOR YEARS IN BUSINESS IN CITY, FALLS FROM CHAIR DEAD AT HIS
HOME EARLY TODAY
Charles Wieboldt, well known liquor dealer and life long resident of the city,
died suddenly at 10 o'clock this morning at his home on Washington street.
Death was due to heart trouble from which Mr. Wieboldt had long been sufferer.
He was 55 years of age and unmarried.
Mr. Wieboldt had been under the care of physicians for some time past because
of an affection of the heart but did not complain of any unusual trouble this
morning and was about the house, during the earlier hours of the day. He had
been seated at the window and had gone into another room and seated himself
when the noise of his falling body, as he pitched from the chair, gave the
first intimation that he had suffered another of the attacks which had lately
become more frequent. Mr. Wieboldt's sister, Miss Ernestine, who made her home
with him, rushed to his assistance and found him unconscious on the floor. Aid
was summoned and physicians called, but nothing could be done to revive him,
death having ensued in a few seconds.
Born Sept. 12, 1857, Mr. Wieboldt was in his 56th year and had spent most of
his life here. For the past nine years he had conducted the business which his
father established in 1883 and which, after the death of Mr. Wieboldt, Sr.,
had been under lease for a given years and had then been taken over by the son.
Mr. Wieboldt had never married and only surviving member of the family is the
sister, Miss Ernestine, who made her home with him.
The funeral of Mr. Wieboldt will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from
the late home on Washington street.
