Birth: Dec. 24, 1880
Death: Feb. 10, 1919

Daughter of Samuel & Elizabeth Jane "Seaton" Seetin
Granddaughter of Thomas Seaton/Seetin and Sarah McGee Seetin and Samuel and Nancy Jackman Seaton

Married William Whitney Jan 6, 1909

Kate Seetin was born December 24, 1880, at the family home in Kanwaka, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Seetin. Here she grew up with her three brothers and four sisters, attending school and having her part in the life of the community. During her girlhood years it was to Kate that many in the nieghborhood looked for help in time of sickness, and all who knew her can testify to her careful and painstaking service. In 1908 she was married to Mr. Will Whitney, and to them one child, Raymer was born. Most of their married life has been spent in Lawrence. A year ago her health failed, and after several weeks of hospital treatment in Topeka, her physician advised the removal to Colorado, but it was useless. A few weeks ago her husband and sister brought her back to Topeka to the doctor who had helped her so much a year ago, and everything possible was done to build her up, but to no avail. She passed away Monday, February 10, 1919, at 9:30 p.m. surrounded by those who were nearest and dearest. The funeral was held at the Second Presbyterian church in Lawrence, Wednesday, February 12, and the body laid to rest in the family lot in Oak Hill cemetery. S.E. Seetin and George Seetin, brothers; Homer Skinner and Newt Hamlin, brothers-in-law, and Roslan Skinner and George Skinner, nephews, were the pallbearers. A sorrowing husband, a nine year old son, a mother, four sisters and two brothers, besides nieces and nephews and friends are left to mourn her loss.
