Walter Whitney, 2619 S. Prairie, departed this life Feb. 1, 1985, at his home. A longtime Pueblo resident; born Aug. 8, 1921, in Smithdale, Ark. He was a retired truck driver from Pueblo Depot Activity. He served his county in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and the Disabled American Veterans. Proceeded in death by his wife, Opal Whitney, a daughter and two sons, three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by a sister, Areather Wilson, Pueblo; brother, Eddie McCall, Chicago; mother-in-laws, Virginia Andrews, Michigan; two sons, Gus Whitney, David Whitney, Pueblo; nephew, Amos Williams, Pueblo; six daughters, Mrs. Delores (James) Sanford, Charlotte Whitney, Mrs. Sharon (Roland) Ferdinand , all of Pueblo, Ola Whitney, Denver, Virginia Whitney, Virginia, Mrs. Annette (Vernon) Walker, California; 15 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services, 11 a.m. Friday, Feb, 8, 1985, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with Rev. F.L. Chandler officiating. Military rites, Fort Carson. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends 2619 S. Prairie and 3903 Brookfield Lane.
